16 red kites gliding overhead: bird watching West Wales

Earlier today, holiday cottage owner Mick, took his two dogs for an off lead walk in adjacent fields.

A grey blustery day just before dusk was enlivened by 16 red kites gliding above our heads.

These birds are majestic.  Most days we will see a pair in the skies over our holiday cottages but recently we are seeing much larger numbers in the winter months.  Perhaps someone is feeding them?

The photo is one I took last year, pity I did not take my camera today.
