A day out to Dinefwr Castle, house and grounds

Day 2 Sunday: really nice weekend acting as tourist guides to visiting nephew and partner.

Sort of on their way back home we decided to go via another national Trust property Dinefwr.

We chose a really scenic route from our holiday cottage base via the lovely village of Talley. Llandeilo road trip:

At Dinefwr you get a lot for your money. The house in set in grounds landscaped by Capability Brown and there is a deer park, rare breed white cattle, a raised bog walk, and Castle Woods nature reserve plus a magnificently situated Welsh castle with wonderful views over the Towy River. There are lots of dog friendly walking and the bluebells were out in full bloom. Dinefwr Castle:

After all this we enjoyed refreshments at the café before our guests had to set off home. We were lucky and could stay on to visit the house and to enjoy a special behind the scenes guided tour, the highlight was to be able to walk around the house roof and see the wonderful views of the surrounding parkland.
