At the northern end of Aberystwyth promenade, cliffs rise steeply to Constitution Hill which provides spectacular and uninterrupted views of the town, Cardigan Bay, and on a clear day the mountain peaks of north Wales.

The funicular railway in Aberystwyth is the most relaxing way to enjoy these magnificent views.  It is the longest funicular electric cliff railway in Britain, which has been transporting visitors to the summit since opening in 1896.

At the top is one of the world’s largest camera obscuras, which offers a bird’s eye view of 1000 square miles of land and seascape. There are also historical displays, a kids play area, a well-stocked gift shop, and a cafe selling delicious home-made snacks.

Constitution Hill offers a great day out for all and easy access to the Ceredigion Coastal path.

Aberystwyth Cliff Railway times & prices
The Cliff Railway is open from 10am to 6pm, 7 days a week from April to October, and often later during the high season.
Out of season, the trains run to a limited timetable, so please call us on 01970 617642 to find out the latest details, or alternatively check out our noticeboard for day to day details.
Fares Adult £3 single £4 return, children £2 single £2.50 return, dogs were free when we last went.
