Derry Ormond Tower, near Lampeter

Derry Ormond Tower looks out of place in its rural hilly setting above the left hand side of the A485 road 3 miles north of Lampeter heading for Tregaron.

Designed by C. R. Cockerell it was part a substantial Classical mansion dated to 1824-7, set in picturesque landscaped park, which includes three lakes, associated cascades and a magnificent bridge.

The house was demolished in 1953. The structure and some of the planting of a grand and extensive terraced garden survives as does the Tower a prominent local land mark.

The site is not open to the public.
