On the Southern side of the River Teifi opposite Cardigan stands the village of St Dogmaels, approximately a mile from Cardigan town centre. The village is quaint and picturesque, the hilly streets and cottages are ablaze of colour in the summer months. There are footpaths and excellent views along the picturesque Teifi estuary
St Dogmaels is known for the remains of a 12th century Tironian abbey, which back in its day was one of the richer monastic institutions.
St Dogmaels is also home to Y Felin, a water powered corn mill renovated in 1980 by its owners it is one of only two working watermills in Wales. Bread, Flour and Cakes can be purchased from the mill and there is a tea room next door offering homemade scones and cakes for visitors to enjoy whilst watching the wheel turning.
Many people from the surrounding areas visit St Dogmaels to visit Bowens Fish and Chip shop and on a summer evening use the seats along the banks of the estuary and the village to enjoy a good old fashioned fish and chip supper.
Quench your thirst at the White Hart Inn are in the village centre or by the estuary in The Teifi Netpool Inn and the Ferry Inn. Both have wonderful views of the estuary. All are dog friendly and offer lunch and dinner menus.
West of the little village further down the estuary is the lovely Poppit sands beach, the big sandy beach where the River Teifi meets the sea.
