Coed y Foel : woodland walk near Holiday cottages in West Wales

You can walk to these woods from Stallion Valley holiday cottages about 0.5 miles away along a public footpath, but we generally drive to the woodland trust car park and walk from there.

We enjoy the original shaded woodland walk and the new wide open spaces by the babbling stream. The walks have been recently extended to include the fields the other side of the valley to the woods where walks by the stream, and other paths are are still being developed.

In the May the woods are carpeted with bluebells.

If your dogs like to run free through the woods and wade in the stream they will love this walk.

Coed y Foel translates as The Hill Wood, which is a good description. It is managed by the woodland trust and further details including maps are on their website, link:

The car park is about a mile from Stallion Valley holiday cottages.

From the end of our farm track turn left down the B4476 towards Llandysul.
After about a mile, at the bottom of the hill, just before the stone bridge turn left again.
Follow this road for about a quarter of a mile and just after a sharp left bend where there is a cottage with orange painted walls on your right is a small car park on your left.
Turn into the car park, the entrance to the woods is through a wooden gate at the back of the car park where there is a map.
