Walking the Ceredigion Coastal path, Llanon to Llanrhystud

On 4th June 2013 we decided to do the short coastal section between Lannon and Llanrhystud extended to longer circular route which adds the variety of a wooded valley walk and a section through open fields high above the coast with excellent views.

Canoeing in the Teifi Valley from holiday cottage West Wales

We set off for Cilgerran , well known for its castle overlooking The Teifi River gorge. We launched the canoe and set off for Cardigan. Along the way we marvelled at the scenery, the wildlife and bird song soundtrack ....

......"Cei Bach beach was lovely and dog friendly. Llandysul park (by the river) has a good play area and walk. Llangrannog was heaving so we went on to Aberporth which was great. Enclosed garden gives peace of mind (for dogs).".....

Redstarts nesting cancel holiday cottage barbeque in Wales

Unfortunately when we took the lid off the barbeque we realised it was too late! Redstarts had got there before us and made a beautiful nest and filled with a lovely clutch of eggs.

Dog friendly, off lead, walks in blue bell woods

This photo is taken at the Woodland Trust woods about a mile away, Charlie and Hamish (in the photo) love chasing rabbits and squirrels there. At this time of the year the wildflowers and blue bells in particular are a beautiful bonus.

West Wales bird watching: Pembrokeshire islands

The off shore bird watching was wonderful. A waterproof camera is on the shopping list, so that I can take photos to share with you........ As we neared Skomer we saw more and more puffins skimming low across the waves or sat on it fishing.

World class food in West Wales but beware lobsters bite back!

Holiday cottage owner Mick had a great weekend scuba diving in Pembrokeshire with Cardigan Sub Aqua club. Highlight of the Saturday BBQ was fresh (caught that day) lobster, it tasted wonderful ! .....but the next day the lobster bit back!

Holiday cottage walking: Ceredigion Coastal Path, West Wales

On Wednesday 1st May 2013 we tackled the 5.5 mile section from Aberystwyth to Borth beach. The weather was fantastic, the scenery wonderful and the path up and down like a fiddlers elbow. .........What a wonderful day out with two train rides!
